A couple of weeks ago, the hubby and I officially opened our up north lakeside sanctuary. There’s nothing like going back to our getaway place after months of being home through the late fall and winter seasons. Breathing in the fresh lake air, soaking up the sunshine, having a bonfire, and cozying up inside when the air gets chilly – these are the days I live for! Words cannot express how thrilled I am for another season to be starting.
The months to come will be spent between both home and up north – but more so up north since I can work from up there and enjoy my weekends there. It’s early yet in the season, but I’m already dreaming up some things to do in the time I spend with my family and friends, and on my own, while there. Visits to Pentwater and Ludington State Park, going to the local arts and crafts shows, hiking the Nordhouse Dunes in Manistee National Forest, renting a kayak and floating down the Pere Marquette River, among other things, rank top on my list for this season. In addition to that, I am pumped for mornings spent sitting on the deck with coffee and a good book, going for long runs along the lakeshore, heading downtown to House of Flavors for ice cream, and sitting on the beach soaking up the rays. It’s going to be AWESOME!
I don’t know about all of you, but I’m so thankful for the change of seasons and scenery this time of year. I’m incredibly grateful for the ability to break out of the usual routine and enjoy a variation between home and away. It’s exactly the thing my heart, mind, and soul need – maybe more this year than ever before. I hope and pray for a blessed time with our dear family and friends, and for a season that brings plenty of memory-making opportunities. Here’s to the water and all it does and is to me!

The tide will rise
And the tide will fall
We’ll be out on the water
Before the break of dawn
The tide will rise
And the tide will fall
Oh, we’ll be working on the water
When the long, long day is gone
