Happy February, friends! I hope and pray the beginning of this month finds you all well! Hard to believe the first month of year is already behind us when it seems like only yesterday we were celebrating the holidays and kicking-off 2014. Now here we are at the dawn of month two. Crazy how time flies when we’re having fun!
While February is the shortest month of the year, one glance at my planner revealed how much is going on in such little time! Here’s a glimpse into some of the things I’m planning on this month …
Today is of course Super Bowl Sunday. Most of us will be gathering around our televisions with family, friends, and food to celebrate the most entertaining night of football in America. How can you not love it? I personally think it should be a holiday that includes the next day off work … just sayin’ … I plan to be comfy cozy and cheering on my Denver Broncos! (I*heart*Peyton Manning!)

Tomorrow I’ll be starting a book club with A Place to Dwell. Katie’s blog has been such an inspiration to me and I am super stoked to read her e-book, An Inspired Life, and join in fellowship and community with others online. I downloaded the book onto my Kindle last week and it’s been tempting to just jump right in – but I know it’s going to be worth the wait. Feel free to join in if you’re interested – I guarantee you’ll love it!

Later this week, I’ll be attending at least one session of the Freedom Tour hosted by Catalyst Training School. My dear friend, Kate, attended last year and said it was amazing. Just reading the first sentence of the invitation to register got me excited: “The Freedom Tour exists to spread the message of freedom to young adult communities whose hearts burn to see the abundant life and greater works Jesus promised.” Um, yes please! Sign me up! I’m really interested in the session on God’s Original Design and am praying to hear a fresh word from God on my identity in Him and the specific plans and purposes He has for my life. Sounds like a great way to continue ushering in 2014!

Friday night begins the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi! I’ve come to really appreciate the Olympics as I’ve gotten older, I think in part because I know a little something now about it what it takes to get in shape, train hard to reach a goal, and sustain that over a long period of time. Olympic athletes are incredible. I’m inspired by their motivation and determination to succeed and go farther, faster, longer, harder. After I watch a competition and see all of the athletes’ hard work, my heart burns to get outside and run a half-marathon. But I digress … it’s below zero outside … LOL! I’ll be tuning in and out throughout the course of it to get a dose of enthusiasm and empowerment to keep up my momentum as a runner (inside at the gym, on a treadmill). Grin.

The half-way point of the month brings us to Valentine’s Day (Friday), immediately followed by President’s Day (Monday), which for some of us means a day off. Woohoo! I think we’re planning to enjoy the long weekend at home right now. But who knows. We may find something fun and spontaneous to do that will break up the monotony of winter. I’m okay with either option.
February is also filled with TONS of birthdays of family members and friends. Looks like there will be some celebrating going on this month – pass the cake, please!
Lastly, I hope to spend some time getting more engaged with The Influence Network, which I joined as a lifetime member before the new year began. I’m excited to be a part of this amazing group of creative, encouraging, inspiring and God-loving women who are committed to making their online lives mean something. I’ve learned so much already, but I look forward to getting involved even more by taking some classes and participating in forums and link-ups. One of my goals is to put myself out there more where my passions are concerned (creating, writing, and photography), and this is the perfect place to do just that with all of the opportunities that are presented along the way. Here’s to continuing the adventure of “Making Things Happen in 2014!”
I don’t know what February holds in store for all of you, but I hope you find the time to do something incredible in this short month!
