Last weekend I had the amazing opportunity to reconnect with my dear friend, Stephanie, whose husband planned a trip for us to meet in the Windy City, just us girls, as a surprise to her for her birthday back in February! It was so great to see one another, after only brief visits here and there over the past ten years since we graduated from college together. And in those ten years, between the two of us, there’s been tours of duty with the US Air Force, earning masters degrees, marriages, kids, jobs, moves, and other various adventures and life events. Despite our individual busyness and the distance between us, we’ve managed to keep in touch, continue to support and pray for one another, and when we have reconnected, we always manage to pick-up right where we left off. In short, this friendship is a huge blessing to my life and seeing her in Chicago was something that was long overdue and that both of us needed!
We had such a wonderful time catching up on all the life things, reminiscing on some of our memories (how far we’ve come since those undergrad days at MSU!), and exploring the city together, including the River Walk, the Magnificent Mile, and plenty of other places along the way. And we totally lucked out with the weather – blue skies and sunshine – while back at home, at least in Michigan, it was rainy and snowy. Lord knows it was nice to escape winter’s last say for a few days!

Overall, it was an amazing time in the Windy City and I’m so blessed by the opportunity we had to reunite and have some one-on-one girl time! I hope for and look forward to more time together like this in the near future!
