The last day of October is here and that means it’s HALLOWEEN! The past couple weekends have been spent getting into the spirit of this fun-filled holiday and it has been a blast!
Two weekends ago the hubby and I went to a farm close to home to take advantage of the beautiful weather and visit the pumpkin patch. We had a great time together walking in the fresh air, picking out our pumpkins, visiting the farm animals, and indulging in apple cider slushies and cinammon sugar donuts. We also picked up some dried corn stalks and decorated the front porch for the season, which has been a nice added touch to our home this year!
This past weekend the hubby and I connected with family and friends to do the Headless Horseman 5K/10K Run/Walk event. Dressed warmly in our costumes and exercise gear, we traveled through the dark of night to get to the finish line. The course is hilly as it travels down city streets, through a park, and then through a cemetary, most of which is lit on both sides by small orange lights or paper lanters. Everything was perfect and made even more complete with a true life Headless Horseman and a glorious full moon that was especially awesome over the lake. All of us had a great time, as evidenced by our smiles, laughter, and silliness (see above picture)! My girlfriend, Nicole, and I were especially thrilled to have each earned 2nd place in our age group for our respective races and were awarded glass beer mugs for our achievement! Yay!
Aside from those events, we have also gotten into the spirit of Halloween by eating ample amounts of our favorite mini-sized candy bars, and watching AMC’s FearFest next to the warmth of the fireplace on these chilly nights. Chocolate + Movies + Fire = Comfy Cozy Perfection.
In celebration of Halloween tonight, we’ll either venture over to a good friend’s place to pass out candy or we’ll stay in and watch more silly scary movies. We shall see where the day takes us!
Wishing everyone a most happy and safe Halloween! Have a SPOOKtacular day!
