Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! ‘Tis the day of shamrocks, leprechauns, green beer, and various other St. Paddy’s Day shenanigans! May the luck of the Irish be with you all!
I was originally going to run a 5K to celebrate the holiday, as I’ve done in the past, but with temps back down in the 30’s, I’ve decided to wait until it warms up a bit. So, I’m spending this holiday in the comfort of my home with the hubby, doing various odds and ends to prep for the coming work week and our trip to Colorado – WOOHOO!
A couple highlights for this day:
1) Shamrock knee socks. I found these at Target while out in Colorado last year to accompany my green Nike ensemble for the Runnin’ of the Green 7K in downtown Denver. That event was a blast and putting these socks on today reminded me of that most fun and exciting experience. Grin.
2) Irish Oatmeal Soda Bread. Its bread – need I say more?!? I came across this recipe on the Eat, Live, Run blog late in the week and once I saw it, I knew I had to make it for today. It is super easy and had my kitchen smelling oh so good while it baked golden-brown in the oven. Yum.
3) The Bible television mini-series. Have ya’ll seen this on the History Channel yet? If not, you’re really missing something! Whether you’re a believer or not, this is definitely something to watch. It has everything from great acting, amazing special effects, dramatic music, and just plain awesome stories from God’s Word. The hubby and I are recording it on DVR and plan to watch it every Sunday through Easter. Last week we watched Part 1, today we’ll watch Part 2. I’m looking forward to the two hours we’ll curl up in the home theater to enjoy this. Love.
Here’s a cheers to a great St. Patrick’s Day! And let me leave you with one of my favorite songs, An Old Irish Blessing…
“May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”
