There’s nothing like “little ones” to bring a family together. Children add a sense of joy, meaning, and purpose to the family unit– giving us hope for the future and reminding us of the simple and most important things in life that are all too often forgotten in the everyday hustle and bustle.
I am fortunate to be an Aunt to two very precious kiddos, Jace Ryan and Addison Olivia.
Jace Ryan came into the world on February 11, 2011. Since his birth, I have seen him four times in person. Not nearly enough, but it’s the best we can do considering him and his family reside out-of-state. This little guy is someone very special to me. He is cute, sweet, funny, good-natured, laid-back, and just plain AWESOME! He resembles my little brother when he was younger, which calls to mind memories of our childhood. Every time I see him in-person or over Skype, I see how much he’s growing and changing, and wish so much that we lived closer together and could be a more active part of his life. But we do what we can do, looking forward to the next time we’ll be together and then living those moments where we are together up to the fullest, hoping and praying each time that he remembers us and knows how much we love him and will always be here for him. I am thankful that later this month, we will be traveling out to Colorado to see Jace and I can’t wait to spend some quality time with this adorable little buddy of mine! There is some serious spoiling in order!
Addison Olivia graced us with her presence on January 31, 2013. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet her this past week as she was being introduced to the Michigan side of the family for the first time. She is unbelievably cute with her round pudgy cheeks, big eyes, and thick curly hair. And just for the record, this little one is already a DIVA! There is no doubt this little girl is ALL girl, through and through. I love it! Although she mostly fussed when I was holding her, I think over time she’ll warm up to me… at least I hope so. LOL! At this stage, it’s just fun to watch her facial expressions, imagine seeing things through her eyes, and take in her tiny fingers and toes and all the other things that make her so sweet and cuddly. I look forward to seeing her grow and become a beautiful person, just like her mom, her other aunt, and her grandma. There is no doubt this girl is going to have the best things in life and I hope to be a part of that!
Being an Aunt is a blessing – it’s full of fun and joy! I praise God for allowing me the experience to see both these little ones this month, and look forward to all the good times to come with them in the future!
