In the spirit of a new year and a fresh start, I do believe it’s time for a new adventure! It’s always this time of year, following the holidays and getting back into a ‘normal’ routine, that my soul craves travel. The chance to break away, get a new perspective, explore a different landscape, and be refreshed by God and the beauty of life calls to a place deep within me. For me, travel is like food, water, and air. It’s a necessity. I can’t live without it. Period.
Knowing this about myself, I went ahead and booked a trip to go see my brother and nephew in Colorado prior to Christmas – giving me something to look forward to and an opportunity to escape the monotony of winter in the mitten. (And oh, what a winter it has been here thus far!)
Although I’ve been to Colorado several times, every trip out there has its own story. I may visit with the same people, but there’s always a new flavor to taste, a new place to visit, a new experience to enjoy, and a new wonder to bask in. I absolutely love the majestic mountains, red rocks, piercing blue sky, and bright sunshine. I adore the city streets and the nature trails. I get a thrill from seeing all the active people out there – it inspires and motivates me to keep moving. And being with family and friends is the icing on the cake. The energy out there is very much alive and I can’t get enough of it, especially this time of year. Colorado is simply AWESOME!
So, today is the day I embark on my journey. Later this afternoon, I’ll be hopping on a big jet and soaring across the sky to Denver where I’ll meet up with my brother, nephew, and dad (who flew out there earlier this week) for a long weekend of family and fun. I’m not sure of all that we’ll do, but I know it will be great because we four amigos will be together and the days will be full of possibility to see and do new things. It will also serve as a wonderful way to continue ushering in my goal of living the good life in 2014. I’m so very much looking forward to it!
Cheers to adventures and the weekend ahead, friends!

There’s a whole world out there, and it’s shouting an invitation for you to come and join. There are people you need to meet and mountains you need to stand in awe of. There are songs that need to be sung at the top of your lungs with people you barely know. It’s time to start living with dreams spilling over in your heart and prayers of all the ways you want to see change on the tip of your tongue.
